Learn More About me

My journey to becoming a Registered Counsellor began while doing a double major of English and Psychology, where I discovered my passion for working with people in a helping profession. I decided to pursue a BPsych with SACAP to gain a focused learning on the application of psychological theory.

My academic teachings were brought to life through personal therapy, where I have been able to experience how a trusting, genuine relationship can foster self-awareness, growth and accountability. My belief in the healing nature of the therapeutic relationship provides the base of my practice, where the integration of diverse theories is then tailored for each client. Considering this, I aim to provide a space to experience a reflective relationship, where there is an opportunity to learn skills and the chance to gain awareness. I believe that holding diverse perspectives allows me to understand my clients’ world better – where many areas of life interact to offer us understanding and resources.

I am an active volunteer at Headway Gauteng, where I have gained experience working with acquired brain injury, chronic illness, care giver support and identity. My work in this space has nurtured my experience with individual counselling, group counselling and psychoeducational development. I have also worked in a remedial school setting with children and adolescents, where I have gained experience with bullying, being attentive to family systems and skills development. I was able to gain the insight of how our early lives shape our development, intertwining with a further understanding of how our social environments nurture who we become.
